Our History
The South Ethiopian Agricultural Research Institute (SEARI) was established in 1998 as part of Ethiopia’s national agricultural research system restructuring. Located in Dilla, the institute was created to address the specific agricultural challenges and opportunities of the South Ethiopian region.
Over the past 25+ years, SEARI has grown from a small regional research center to a comprehensive agricultural research institute with multiple research stations and specialized laboratories. Our work has directly contributed to improved crop varieties, sustainable farming practices, and enhanced food security across the region.
Today, SEARI continues to evolve, embracing new technologies and research methodologies while maintaining our commitment to serving the agricultural community of South Ethiopia.
